Led by pianist Kerry Politzer, Bossa PDX is a Portland-based band that plays lovingly transcribed arrangements of Gilberto Gil, Roberto Menescal, Marcos Valle, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, João Donato, and Tom Jobim compositions, among others. We also play a selection of upbeat Brazilian jazz tunes. Our instrumentation includes vocals, piano, sax or flute, guitar, bass, and percussion. (The Portland Mercury calls us “pleasantly propulsive,” and we think that’s a good description.)
Bossa PDX has performed at the Oregon Coast Jazz Party, the Montavilla Jazz Festival, the Florence Wine & Jazz Festival, the Lincoln City Cultural Center, Ellensburg’s Jazz in the Valley, and the Lan Su Garden, among other venues. The band has been profiled in Oregon Coast Today.
We hope you will sign up for our mailing list and come on out to a gig.
(Also, we’ve just added a TeePublic store!)
